Just Running Errands

The fruits (veggies?) of my labor

I told my husband that I was dropping off stuff at the food shelf and then running a couple errands.  Two stores, two hours and some amazing deals later, I returned home with a bounty of things, spent less than $25 OOP and still have $20 in gift cards from Target, earned over $5 in BR at Walgreens plus have $4.50 in RR.  Plus, I have $17 in rebates to submit.  A money maker morning!

Here's how it went down:

Stop #1 - Buffalo Food Shelf

Donated 30# in items, but forgot the 30 deodorants!  Will bring next time.

Stop #2 - Target

I found the large bottles of clearance Pantene which scanned for lower than the marked price and got as many as I could.  It took three trips back and forth between the shampoo aisle and the scanner because some of the bottles were higher priced than others.  Then got the rest of my list items.  I broke it down into 2 transactions because of the coupon policy limiting 4 like coupons per transaction and so I could use gift cards earned in 1st one for the 2nd.  I also had a $5 gift card from last week.

    • Applied 5% cartwheel on bagged potatoes

  • 2- blood oranges $ .99 (wait a minute - these were marked as $ .79 on the shelf!)
    • Applied 2- $ .70 off produce wyb Raisin Bran
    • = $ .58 (should've been $ .18 if shelf was right.  Hmm....)
Total after tax, bag and Red Card discounts:

After transaction savings:
  • $20 remainder in Target gift cards

Stop #3 - Walgreens

(Getting tired yet?  I am now, just typing this all out!  I guess those shopping dopamines really helped to carry me through earlier.)

I already stopped there yesterday and did 3 RR deals and had $13 in RR to start with (used my BR's so very little OOP).  I try to carry at least 30,000-40,000BR.  I did 2 transactions, the first to get more RR's and redeem BR's, the 2nd to get my TP.  We are a Charmin only household and I've been waiting for a deal.

  • Insync Probiotic $10
    • applied $2 coupon found inside box bought the previous day
    • Received $10 RR
    • = $8.00
  • Oral-B toothbrush $3
    • Applied $ .75 from P&G 3/2
    • Received $1.50 RR
    • = $ 1.50
  • 5 packs of Charmin Ultra Strong double roll $3.99
    • Applied 5 - $ .25 from P&G 3/2 (low value but it's the only one we get)
    • Dawn hand renewal dish soap $ .99
    • Applied $ .50/1 from coupons.com
    • = $ .49
    • Received 5,000 BR from purchasing at least $20 of select P&G (before coupons)
  • 3 - Cepacol 4pk loz. on clearance for $ .29 each, fillers needed to comply with coupon policy
    • = $ .87
= $2.58 OOP after taxes which was $2.33 so really it was only $ .25!

Used 10,000 BR
Earned back 5,000 BR
Used $20 in RR
Remainder of $4.50

And I'll do my best to use those remaining RR's to make more BR's and bring my balance back up.  Maybe the Garnier deal.

When I got home, I was still pretty high on my shopping excitement but knew I'd crash soon.  So I grabbed a protein pack, which I got free.  Not too bad, though there's a lot of waste in the packaging.  Good thing the plastic can be recycled.  And then I realized that these protein packs pair perfectly with Fresh Express salads (see top photo with cheese & meat added from protein pack), which you can get at Cub for $ .25 each this week.  But that's another story.
